I am an artist, entrepreneur, author, facilitator, mom, avid hiker, adventurer, and yoga instructor based in Kansas City.
In my twenties I won my first artist residency in Hungary and began traveling the world exhibiting and selling my artwork. I had the opportunity to work with many influential artists and develop my own painting style.
"I create sculpted paintings using only acrylic paint that engages the viewer and invites them to set aside their fear and preconceived barriers to understanding fine art" - Anastacia Drake
I have went on to win artist residencies throughout Europe, the US, and Bali. My work has been featured in various magazines and is represented by several galleries and boutiques.
HourDuring the pandemic lock-in I found myself struggling with anxiety. With no classes to teach, all trails being closed to hikers, and traveling no longer an option, I decided to sign up for my yoga teacher certification. My goal was to educate and push myself. I was seeking physical, spiritual, and mental strength and solace. I had previous injuries that had created weakness in my body.
As I worked my way through the program I realized how deeply yoga affected me on a physical, mental and emotional level. My body became more toned, strong, and flexible. I felt energized and composed. Yoga began to fix my body by making me mindful of what was weak and teaching me how to strengthen and nourish as a whole. What initially became a personal pursuit for well being, soon turned into the desire to share what I had learned.
I went on to become a 500 Hour Registered Yoga Trainer and then became the only registered certified prenatal/postpartum yoga teacher in the state of Kansas with Yoga Alliance. I went on to get more training in yoga for the pelvic floor and adaptive yoga for all body types.
